FAQs

Should we work together? Can I help?

You may be reading through this information with curiosity, thinking, “Sure this sounds kind of neat, but am I the right fit for this type of service?” Well, I’m glad you asked! Here are a few questions I can clarify.

“I am not vegan or vegetarian, or necessarily interested in labeling myself plant-based. Can I still benefit from your service, and work with you?”

Yes! Even if your goal isn’t to be 100% plant-based, I can help you navigate introducing new and healthful food options into your routine and life. If you’re just starting with “Meatless Mondays” or trying to cut back on your animal-product consumption, this is a great place to start. We will talk about your right direction in our consultation.

“I am already vegan/vegetarian. Would you be teaching me anything I don’t already know?”

Yes, most likely. My aim is to help you fully explore your goals within your plant-based lifestyle, and learn new ways of cooking, planning meals, or making healthy choices in your kitchen and grocery shopping. This may not be the best service for you if you are already a very well skilled and diversified cook, and seasoned in a vegan lifestyle for many years. But if you’re stuck in a rut with cooking, have been afraid to try new things, or just transitioned to a vegan lifestyle recently, let’s talk about your goals!

“I really want to lose weight, and want someone to plan out meals and macro-nutrients for me. Do you do that?”

While weight-loss can often be a “side effect” of a lifestyle change incorporating healthier options and more plants, my focus within this platform is not on fast weight loss. I DO know how to coach fast results, and do so within my work with VitaLife Sioux Falls, which is a great option to get started if that is your aim. I can give you some basic skills for tracking macros, and introductory information, but I do not plan specific macro-balanced meals for you in this program. A great resource would be Tyler Costine, and ME Fitness & Nutrition

“I don’t like vegetables! Can I still work with you?”

Well… yes, and no. If you’re really interested in trying new things you may not have enjoyed in the past, then absolutely YES! I’m here to help you try new foods in new ways. If you’re unwilling to explore new ways of eating and cooking, then honestly you probably wouldn’t be reading this far into learning about this service! The beautiful thing about coaching is that you really get the most out of it when you put the right mindset into it from the get-go.

“I’m afraid you will judge me or make me feel bad about (____)… Do you push an animal-rights agenda?”

Judgement and shame has no place in my coaching style. I’m not here to “make you feel” any kind of shame or blame in any past or current choices. I have my own personal beliefs, as any person does, and my experiences will definitely come into play in shaping how I offer support and information. While I will touch on ethical arguments and offer new information depending on your goals, I do not spend lots of time on going through statistics and animal-cruelty practices. My focus is on helping you be mindful and introduce new plant-centric habits and meals to your life (for your benefit, the environment, and the animals!).

“I think I would like more than four coaching sessions together. Do you do longer programs, or offer weekly support options?”

Yes! Let’s talk about your goals, and we can come up with an option that will fit your needs.
